Best things to see and do in Seattle
Pike Place Market
Don't miss our favorite places while you visit the Emerald City.

1. Pike Place MarketNot only for tourists, the Pike Place Market is a local's favorite place for fresh flowers, seafood, and produce. It's lively, it's an affordable place to grab a bite, and it showcases what the city is all about. Tip: Watch out for the fish-throwers while walking around.

2. The Space Needle. A trip to Seattle isn't complete without visiting its most recognizable landmark. The views are incredible - from above - if you take the elevator up - and from below, if you decide to skip the pricey ride. The grounds are filled with performing and media art centers, museums, and a lot to see.

3. Doc Maynard's Underground Tours. Take a guided tour underneath Seattle's sidewalks and streets and see the original Seattle cityscape that was once the main roads and first floor storefronts of old downtown Seattle.

4. Take a Ferry to the Islands or to Victoria B.C. Seattle provides daily ferry service to the San Juan Islands and to Victoria B.C. for shopping, sightseeing, and dining. Check out our list ofday trips for other quick getaways.

5. Experience Music Project (The EMP) and Science Fiction Museum (SFM). The EMP/SFM is Seattle's unique and most-loved museum, with hands-on exhibits for music and science fiction lovers, a full bar to mingle, and a full calendar of events and live music. Not your cup of Joe? Our other favorites are the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) and the Museum of Flight, home to the original Airforce 1. Check out our list of museums for more recommendations.

6. Beechers Handmade Cheese. Seattle has its very own and very tasty cheese, and you can watch them make it. Right there at the Pike Place Market, you can grab a bite to eat at Beechers and watch the cheesemaking process in progress.

7. The Safeco Field. Take a 1-hour tour of the Seattle Mariners' home, a 19.59-acre outdoor baseball park with real grass and a retractable roof. The field has sweeping views of Seattle Downtown's skyline and breathtaking sunsets.

8. Ride the Ducks. The Ducks are always a fun adventure through the city's streets and waters. Locals love them just as much as tourists, because of the hilarious captains and informative stories.

9. Brunch at Salty's. Our favorite brunch place is Salty's at Alki beach. With incredible waterfront views and delicious seafood Northwest style, we can't get enough of it. Call ahead for reservations, as it's always packed. When you're done, walk it off with a nice stroll on Alki beach.

10. The Locks at Ballard. Seattle loves its salmon, and at the Locks that link salty Puget Sound with the fresh waters of Salmon Bay, Lake Union, Portage Bay, and Lake Washington, you can the salmon pass between the fresh and salt water through the fish ladder. It's a great sight to watch.
